New York

For 2 weeks in July, I was working for Arcadia in New York! How exciting!

And, it was. Exciting that is.

It was also hot. Very very hot. And humid! In fact, it was in the middle of a heatwave! There were severe weather warnings.

Each day, we would walk from the Hilton Garden Inn, Tribeca, down 6th Ave, all the way past the site of the World Trade Centre, to the Staten Island ferry. We then jumped on the train for 3 stops to Clifton, and then another 10/15 minute walk to the location which was SMA Microsystems.

The new WTC Freedom Tower - at the time we were there, it was going up at about 1 floor per 2 days!
Each day, we walked about an hour and a half (all together) and in mega high temperatures. We came past Century 21 each day. It's a department store which is opposite the WTC site. It has a clock/thermometer on the outside. Early in the morning we'd be walking to the ferry, and the clock/temp would be alternating between 06.41am and up to 89 degrees. That's hot. Before 7am!!

A cool day - 68 degrees on this day, at 6:45
The journey was long, and hot, and sticky. but, the best bit was the ferry over to Staten Island.

Manhattan from the ferry. Freedom Tower is the one over to the left with a crane sticking out of it.

Each day on the ferry, we had to say good morning to the green lady.

Isn't she lovely?
She wasn't the only thing that we were concerned with, on the ferry. Primarily, at 7am, it was coffee and granola!

Chris, my colleague, with his cuppa in the sun!
And in the 2nd week...
This is Shane, the customer, having his bit of brekkie!

The ferry trips were really a high point of each day! There was fresh air, a bit of space, nice coffee and company, and a little bit of chill time in what was otherwise a pretty hectic fortnight!
